How Fro Butter Started

Fro Butter isn't just a product to me. It's personal.

In 2014, I wasn't trying to build a brand. I was trying to survive as a single mom with four kids.

I hadn't finished college, so I couldn't lean on a degree. I had to lean on what I knew how to do with my hands — I braided hair.

What I Saw
Behind the Chair

I started taking clients in my living room. As I braided, I began noticing something that stayed with me.

So many of the women sitting in my chair were dealing with thinning edges, bald spots, and traction alopecia. Damage that had been building up for years.

When I asked what they were using to fix it, most would say "I'm trying this product I found online" or "They said this would grow my hair back."

But when I looked at the ingredients, I saw synthetics, fillers, and chemicals I wouldn't even feel comfortable using on myself. And that didn't sit right with me.

The Inspiration From
My Grandmother

I grew up in Jamaica watching my grandmother make remedies in her kitchen. She would use herbs, oils, and plants from her garden.

Everything had intention. Everything had purpose. Nothing was random.

So I went back to that. I started researching, blending, and testing — not to sell anything, but to help the women in my chair feel confident again.

Creating the
First Formula

I wanted their edges to come back. I wanted their hair to feel strong.

I wanted them to feel beautiful without having to hide. When I started using my butter on them, they noticed.

Their hair responded. And they kept telling me:

I didn't see it at first. But they did.

From Living Room
to Fro Butter

That's how Fro Butter was born. Over the years, what started in my living room has reached homes all over the country.

But the formula hasn't changed. The heart behind it hasn't changed.

I still use it. My entire household uses it. My kids don't even know a world without Fro Butter in it — it's just what we use. It's part of us.

My goal was never just hair growth. It was confidence. It was restoration. It was you looking in the mirror and feeling like yourself again.
